Bear & Wildlife Defence

Our bear defence training course is designed for those who work and play in bear country. An occupational requirement for many employers do to their due diligence obligations under Bill C-45. This course will give you an in depth look at bear psychology and what to do should you encounter a bear in the wild.

Granted bear attacks are rare, but with the reduction in spring bear hunts in many areas and the increased number of humans heading into the woods every summer, the number o f encounters are rising. With the knowledge obtained in this course you will have the peace of mind and the skills needed to have a safe and enjoyable experience while enjoying the great outdoors in bear country. Basic Wilderness Search & Rescue

Basic Wilderness Search & Rescue is a course covering: wilderness rescue disciplines, backcountry rescue techniques, group rescue equipment, personal protective equipment, equipment selection, rescue team organization, special situations, scene size up & hands on skills (stokes basket rigging, securing individuals into stokes baskets, stokes basket handling, improvised low angle operations and shallow water river crossings including field scenarios and a night time wilderness rescue operation.

Students are required to provide their own helmet, work gloves, eye protection, proper footwear, clothing appropriate for the environment and material for taking notes
