Scott is the Operations Manager and Chief Training Instructor, An experienced member of a local Volunteer Fire Department, possessing a strong background in the emergency services/ rescue and medical field.

Currently an active instructor for The Emergency Care & Safety Institute in addition to having been a previous member of the Canadian Civil Air Search & Rescue based out of Yellowknife NWT and the Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary.

Scott brings a lot of experience with regards to dealing with search & rescue operations on both land and on the sea. In addition Scott is a Wilderness EMT , An active serving wilderness and Remote Environment Medic, A former Ambulance Medical Attendant, and an experienced Nursing Attendant who worked in the University of Alberta hospital in the Neurology Unit.

Scott founded the company based on having seen first hand what happens when people venture into the wilderness, unprepared to deal with unexpected emergencies.

Scott has spent time working in Canada's Arctic Region as an Arctic and Wilderness Survival Instructor, Scott has a great deal of experiences he can pass onto his students.

In addition Scott is a licensed commercial pilot with experience flying floatplanes around the North. Holder of The Royal Life Saving Society Bronze Medallion & Bronze Cross. PADI Open Water Scuba Diver. And recipient of the Central East Base Hospital “Lightning Bolt Award” for being involved in a successful resuscitation of a Cardiac Arrest Victim.

Deanna is a co-founder of HWTI. She has been a dedicated and passionate Instructor and has been teaching for over well over 5 years. Her fun and engaging teaching methods are always well received and her former experience working in Healthcare and living in the Arctic lend to her knowledge and obviously a passion that she shares with her students.


Deanna is an instructor for most of the courses HWTI offers, and is known for her great ways of taking complex concepts and breaking them down in a fun and easy way for students to learn and understand.

Deanna has a love for nature and all its creatures, she can often be found exploring with her Black Lab Bruin. Bruin sometimes hangs out with the students helping where he can. Together with her family, she is always looking for the next opportunity to get out and hike and to find new challenges. From Choppers in the Arctic providing Medic Services, to the Middle of James Bay via snowmobile teaching, Deanna has the real-world experience to back up the training she provides her students in the classroom.
