What To Bring

Below you will find a list of suggested items students should bring with them when they are coming to take a course at the Highlands Wilderness Training Institute.

** PLEASE NOTE: students should keep in mind that these courses are conducted in both a classroom and an outdoor environment and run regardless of the weather. Students should have appropriate attire for the climate they will be taking their course in.

Also students need to keep in mind that in order to provide the highest level of training and the most realistic training possible instructors in our wilderness first aid courses use moulage make up such as fake blood. These products are safe BUT do have the ability to stain clothing. Students SHOULD NOT wear expensive clothing during their scenarios. It is recommended that they bring at-least one outfit that can be stained , cut or damaged etc. We often recommend a trip to value village or a similar used clothing store. Students will be given notice ahead of time of when they should change into their scenario clothing.

Survival course students although not exposed to the make up which is used in Wilderness First Aid Courses should keep in mind that they too will get dirty, You will likely get tree sap on your clothing in addition to dirt. Please dress accordingly.
